June's Newsletter is up!

The newsletter for June is up, and it features me this time! *does Princess Di wave* But I didn't have to interview myself, thank goodness--our esteemed editor Kayleigh Jamison was kind enough to step in and write up some questions. She did so well, in fact, that I'm tempted to add it to her job!

*hides from her wrath*

Am I clear? Okay then. I'd also like to announce that I'm going to be at WriterCon, July 21-23 in Atlanta, GA. I'll have more details for you guys as they are forthcoming, but I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!

How do you get published?

I had a stunning revelation today.

Most people don't have a clue when it comes to what it takes to get published.

A co-worker's client had written a book, and had no idea what she was going to do with it. She didn't know where to start, what to do, how to go about it, what scams were, how things happened, etc.

It completely floored me.

I've been so involved with knowing as much as I can about how to sell something, what it takes, and all that, I'd forgotten that not everyone knows how to get published. Or even where to begin.

It's not a terribly difficult process, really, just very time consuming. There's a lot of research involved. And that comes after the book is written. Writing the book is a whole other situation of research, studying and planning.

But the biggest thing you can do when trying to get published is the research. And I'm not talking spending hours in the library. You get involved in writer's chats, get into a critique group, read blogs by authors, publishers, editors, and agents.

The education is around you, everywhere. Shoot, there's so much on the internet it's daunting, but there's information there, and it's available for anyone willing to look.

That's where I learned.

I'm so glad...

...that Savannah took the plunge first; I don't much like virgins. :P

I've been quite busy of late, between writing and editing, but my website is up to date, more or less, and there's a yummy short story for you to read, my gift to you!

I am in the midst of editing two wonderful novels, slated for publication this year only from Aphrodite's Apples - Candice Gilmer's Unified Souls, a science fiction romance, action, adventure, everything you want in a novel, yay! How, you ask, can a cyborg heroine with no understanding of emotions fall in love? You'll have to read it to find out!

I'm also editing the first novel in Katrina Strauss's Eldritch saga, Secrets Revealed. Knights, magi, corupt kings, and sexy peasant girls. Throw in a dungeon, a whip, and enough sexual tension to drive you crazy, and you have one damn good novel, folks.

Popping the cherry...

WooHoo!! I am popping the cherry on this blog! LMAO I have always wanted to write that. *sigh*

Yes, I am silly -- not enough caffeine yet. I should remedy that. And, there's a pan of cinnamon rolls on the stove. hmmmm diet? what diet?? It's gonna be one of those days.

Okay, so seriously now. Alisha ran an edit on In Pursuit of Prey, which is the first completed title in my Sacrliegious collection. OMG red red red... *wink* Actually, it wasn't that bad. Thanks for sparing the rod and spoiling the child for this first round, Alisha! Pursuit was a fun one to write because I got to indulge my inner Goddess, and play with a rock singer at the same time. There's some hot hot hot love scenes, tension between the characters, capitulation and sacrifice.

Ah... Sacrifice. Part of the tagline, Sacrifice yourself on the altar of the gods. That is not an invitation, that is an order!!
